Presidents day Weekend!

Publicerad 2015-02-17 19:31:37 i Allmänt,

This Monday was George Washington's birthday, so we were off from work, celebrating Presidents Day. I do not know how much celebrating was going on in San Antonio, at least didn't I see anyone celebrating any Presidents, but people were at least happy to be off work.

This weekend was also Valentine's day. In Sweden Valentine is not a big, big thing, but here in the US, people really go all in.
You especially notice this, if you want to go and eat at a restaurant. First, it is almost impossible to get a table, and if you do get a table, most restaurants have a special menu just for this day, which is of course three times as expensive as the normal menu...
All the stores are also filled with candy, teddy bears and cards, two weeks before Valentine, just so you do not have any chance of missing it. Now of course everything is at 50% off since they couldn't sell everything.

But we had to join the crowds and celebrate Valentines on Saturday, so we therefore went to our favorite restaurant (for now) The Cheesecake Factory. And only had to wait one hour to get a table.

The temperature here in San Antonio is also changing a lot. On Saturday it was 25 degrees Celsius, and really nice, and on Sunday the cold weather was back. Hopefully the warm weather will come here shortly so we can start using the pool.

Even if it is cold, they have started to sell strawberries. Strawberries that people in Sweden, still has to wait another 4-5 months for!

Another thing that we really like here in the US, is the availability of spaghetti squash. For you who do not know what it is, it is a squash that you cook in the oven and when you remove the inside it looks like spaghetti. Very good and healthy for you! See last nights dinner with no carbs at all (except for the beer....).
