Best Brisket so far!!
If you ever travel to Austin, make sure to stop at Franklin Barbecue (franklinbarbecue.com). It is a rustic truly authentic BBQ joint, and the food is awesome. Franklin Barbecue is actually the reason we started to eat brisket here in Texas.
The place is featured in the movie Chef, which is a pretty good feel-good movie if you like food (and I guess everyone does...).
The place opens at 11:00 and closes when the food runs out. So you have to be there pretty early, if you want to eat. When we got there it was a 90 minute wait, and they said the line had been twice that long in the morning, apparently people come there in the weekends at 07:00 in the morning after been out partying.
Anyway they are well prepared for it, so you can take a camping chair and sit in the line, and a guy goes around and sells beer, so the 90 minutes didn't actually feel that long. They also have implemented the rule BYOB (bring your own beer) which many people actually used while waiting.
The worst part was when there was only 2 people in front of you, and the people buying at the moment, started to discuss what they wanted...You had 90 minutes to figure that out!!
Anyway the food was as good as you imagined, we got 1/2 pound of brisket and 1/2 pound of pulled pork, and they added some sausages and other stuff for free to taste. The pulled pork was not sweet as they usually are which I really liked, and the brisket just melted in your mouth.
Being amateurs here, we didn't bring a container or a cooler, so we had to eat all of it (poor us...!). The bad thing, was that it was hard to move in a long time, and the good thing was that we didn't need any dinner :-) !
Next time we are going to bring a cooler stacked with beer for the line, and then we can bring home the food we do not eat. Because we are definitely coming back.

Hungry people waiting!!

They have chairs you can borrow, if you are lazy.

Only 20 minutes more.....!!!

Worth waiting for!!
