Texas Culture?
Last weekend we went to one of the biggest Rodeos in the US. The San Antonio Rodeo. I have never seen so many big cars (trucks) in one place. We have a big car, compared to Sweden, but parked besides all these trucks, it looked like a Smart car.
Before the Rodeo there was of course a lot of shops were you could buy your cowboy hat or boots, and also a lot of people had brought their pigs, sheeps, horses and cows for different competitions. It didn't smell good in there with all the animals.
There was of course a food court where you could buy everything you wanted, as long it wasn't a salad or something remotely healthy....Everything of course looked delicious, but you understand why Texas has a problem with obesity. We finally found a Wok place which actually had a pretty good chicken Wok, and felt like the healthierchoice, before we went to the Rodeo itself.
I have been to a rodeo, once before in Homestead, and to be honest, it isnt really my thing. But it was entertaining for a Sunday afternoon, and you have to be impressed by the cowboys and cowgirls, they are actually amazing and brave athletes. I wouldn't sit upon top of a big bull like that, for all the butter in Småland.....
The people that impressed me the most was actually the helpers, these are two people sitting on a horse each, and their job is to remove the cowboy to their horse, after the 8 second clock (that is how long the cowboys have to stay on the horse/bull) to get qualified.) and also to remove the belt from the horse/bull so it calms down. Their control of the horse they were sitting on, was actually pretty impressive to watch.
Start of the rodeo.

Brave (crazy?) cowboy on a bull.

They are not calm nice cows.....
